Allertec Kids is an antihistamine syrup containing cetirizine dihydrochloride, suitable for children from 2 years, adolescents, and adults. It helps relieve symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria without causing significant drowsiness.
Allertec Kids blocks H1 histamine receptors to reduce allergic reactions, alleviating itching, swelling, redness, and nasal or eye discomfort.
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Common (affecting less than 1 in 10 people): fatigue, dry mouth, nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, sore throat, rhinitis (in children).
Uncommon (affecting less than 1 in 100 people): abdominal pain, asthenia (very severe weakness), feeling unwell, paraesthesia (disturbance of sensation), agitation, itching, rash.
Rare (affecting less than 1 in 1,000 people): rapid heartbeat, swelling, allergic reactions, sometimes severe (very rare), abnormal liver function, weight gain, convulsions, aggressive behavior, confusion, depression, hallucinations, insomnia, hives.
Very rare (affecting less than 1 in 10,000 people): thrombocytopenia (reduction in the number of blood platelets), accommodation disorders (the eye's ability to adjust to different objects at different distances), blurred vision, oculogyration (uncontrolled, circular movements of the eyes), fainting, tremor, taste disturbances, dystonia (prolonged muscle contractions), dyskinesia (involuntary movements), tics (habitual spasms), urinary disorders (bedwetting, pain and/or difficulty in passing urine), angioedema (serious allergic reaction which causes swelling of the face or throat), drug rash.
Not known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data): increased appetite, suicide attempt (recurring suicidal thoughts or preoccupation with suicide), nightmares, amnesia (memory loss), memory impairment, vertigo (sensation of spinning or loss of balance), urinary retention (inability to completely empty the bladder), pruritus (intense itching) and/or hives after discontinuation of the drug, joint pain, rash with blisters containing pus, hepatitis.
Recommended for children aged 2 years and older.
Consult a doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Not recommended while breastfeeding.
May cause drowsiness in some patients. Avoid driving or operating machinery if affected.
