Flegtac Cough Syrup is an expectorant designed to ease difficult expectoration by liquefying secretions in the respiratory tract. Suitable for children over 2 years and adults, it helps clear mucus and relieve cough.

Composition per 1 ml
- Bromhexine hydrochloride – 1.6 mg
- Excipients: sorbitol, propylene glycol, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), sodium saccharin (E954), purified water, cherry flavor (propylene glycol, benzyl alcohol, triethyl citrate, lactic acid, 4-methoxyacetophenone, 3-hydroxy-2-methyl-4-pyrone, anisic aldehyde, benzoic acid)
Dosage
- Adults and children over 12 years: 5 ml 3 times daily (initially may increase to max 30 ml/day)
- Children 6–12 years: 2.5 ml 3 times daily, max 10 ml/day
- Children 2–6 years: 1.25 ml 3 times daily, max 5 ml/day
Take after meals at regular intervals. Do not take immediately before bedtime. Maximum duration without doctor supervision: 7 days.
Action
Flegtac Cough liquefies bronchial secretions, facilitating their removal and making coughing easier and more effective.
Indications
Used in acute and chronic respiratory diseases with impaired mucus clearance and difficult expectoration.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to bromhexine or any excipients
- Gastric or duodenal ulcers
- Hereditary fructose intolerance
Side Effects
- Rare: nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, hives, hypersensitivity reactions
- Very rare: headache, dizziness, drowsiness
- Frequency unknown: severe cutaneous adverse reactions, anaphylactic reactions, decreased blood pressure, elevated liver enzymes
Warnings and Precautions
- Consult doctor if asthma, difficulty expectorating, ciliary dyskinesia, liver or kidney problems
- May cause allergic reactions due to E218 and E216
- Keep out of reach of children, store in original packaging, protect from light, use within 3 months after opening
Drug Interactions
- Use with caution with atropine and other anticholinergic drugs (drying of mucous membranes)
- Do not use concurrently with antitussive drugs
- May enhance GI irritation of NSAIDs and salicylates
- May increase lung concentration of certain antibiotics (amoxicillin, cefuroxime, erythromycin, doxycycline, oxytetracycline, ampicillin)
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Not recommended in the first trimester. Use later in pregnancy only if benefits outweigh risks. Bromhexine passes into breast milk; consult your doctor before use.
Children and Adolescents
Not for use in children under 2 years of age.
Driving and Operating Machinery
Caution is advised as headaches, dizziness, or drowsiness may occur.
