Ibuprom for Children Forte is a strawberry-flavored oral suspension for infants, children, and adults. It contains ibuprofen, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), with antipyretic, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory effects. This medication is indicated for fever and mild to moderate pain, including headaches, toothaches, throat, muscle, joint, and bone pain. It can also be used after vaccinations, dental procedures, teething, musculoskeletal injuries (strains, sprains), soft tissue injuries, and ear pain due to middle ear inflammation.

Indications

Composition
1 ml of suspension contains:
- Active substance: 40 mg ibuprofen
- Excipients: sodium benzoate (E211), citric acid anhydrous, sodium citrate, sodium saccharin, sodium chloride, hypromellose 15 cP, xanthan gum, liquid maltitol, glycerol, thaumatin (E957), strawberry flavor (natural and nature-identical), purified water
Dosage
Recommended daily dose: 20–30 mg/kg body weight in divided doses. Minimum interval between doses: 6–8 hours. Shake well before use.
- Infants 3–6 months (5–7.6 kg): 1.25 ml 3x/day (150 mg/day)
- Infants 6–12 months (7.7–9 kg): 1.25 ml 3–4x/day (150–200 mg/day)
- Children 1–3 years (10–15 kg): 2.5 ml 3x/day (300 mg/day)
- Children 4–6 years (16–20 kg): 3.75 ml 3x/day (450 mg/day)
- Children 7–9 years (21–29 kg): 5 ml 3x/day (600 mg/day)
- Children 10–12 years (30–40 kg): 7.5 ml 3x/day (900 mg/day)
- Adults and children >12 years: 10 ml 3x/day until symptoms disappear
Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration. Consult a doctor if symptoms persist or worsen.
Contraindications
- Allergy to ibuprofen, NSAIDs, or any ingredients
- History of asthma, hives, or rhinitis after NSAIDs
- Active or past gastrointestinal ulcer, bleeding, or perforation
- Severe liver, kidney, or heart failure
- Concurrent NSAID or COX-2 inhibitor use
- Third trimester of pregnancy
- Bleeding disorders
Side Effects
May include:
- Common: heartburn, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, flatulence
- Uncommon: stomach inflammation, ulcers, headache, dizziness, insomnia, rash, hives, asthma attacks
- Rare: tinnitus, liver problems, blood cell disorders, psychotic reactions, depression
- Very rare: severe skin reactions, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, DRESS syndrome, acute kidney failure
Interactions
Consult your doctor or pharmacist if taking:
- Anticoagulants (aspirin, warfarin)
- Blood pressure medicines (ACE inhibitors, beta-blockers, angiotensin II antagonists, diuretics)
- Other NSAIDs or painkillers
- Heart medications, zidovudine, lithium, methotrexate, corticosteroids
Warnings & Precautions
- May mask infection symptoms (fever, pain)
- Not recommended in dehydrated children due to kidney risk
- Long-term/high-dose use may increase heart attack or stroke risk
- Serious skin reactions require immediate medical attention
- Consult doctor for use in children under 6 months
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
- Not recommended in first 6 months of pregnancy
- Contraindicated in last 3 months of pregnancy
- Small amounts may pass into breast milk; generally safe
- May temporarily impair female fertility

- After opening, store below 25°C and use within 6 months
